All New Attractions for 2024

This year’s Winter Wander Trail of Lights is destined to be the most astonishing since its existence. Our team has been working diligently since the close of last year’s event to bring multiple new additions that will transform this year's Winter Wander Trail of Lights into the most spectacular winter “wanderland” in all of Virginia. Here’s a list of what’s new for 2024:

Fireworks and a live drone light show on select nights (weather permitting, see details below).
Entertainment including live music and winged dancers (see details below).
Heron’s Nest: A new display honoring the beautiful bird that calls Heritage Lake her home (see below).
Additional illuminations added to several pre-existing features, including Serenity Way, Sunkissed Meadow and Firefly Grove.
Four new artificial snow machines at Serenity Way and Starry Night Sky.
Live music in the Enchantment District.

We’ve been known for our lights, but now it’s time to showcase some action! The far east side of the Wander Grounds will feature our Enchantment District full of live music and attractions on select nights. Entertainment will be featured in a heated tent and the district will feature outdoor games, two additional fire pits and Frost and Fire Bar. Winged Dancers & Music

Live music will grace the stage of our heated tent from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and daily from Dec. 26 - Jan. 4.

The real magic will be nightly from Nov. 22 – Dec. 24 (except Dec. 17) when we host a group of enchanting, fairytale-inspired interactive LED dancers. Wander In Motion is a mesmerizing spectacle and is sure to astound children and adults alike. The shows begin every 30 minutes starting at 5 p.m. with the last show at 8:30 p.m. (no 5 p.m. show on Nov. 22, 23 and 24).

Drone Light Show & Fireworks

Winter Wander will be elevated to all new heights for five select nights this year with Elevation Illumination – a drone light show powered by a fleet of 100 drones towering above the grounds providing a fantastic display of patterned light formations like nothing you’ve ever seen. There will be two shows per night at 6 and 8 p.m. Show dates are Dec. 17, 29, 30 and Jan. 1 and 2.

On Tuesday, Dec. 31, we’ll ring in the new year with an electrifying fireworks show starting at approximately 8 p.m.

Heron's Nest

If you’ve ever walked the Heritage Lake loop during the early morning hours, you may have seen a very prominent bird gliding from one lake to another. To honor our wonderfully winged tenant, this year, Winter Wander will feature a larger-than-life, and highly lit heron alongside his frog friend, a lily pad and lotus flower. And if your thought Big Boar Ridge was big, wait until you meet up with our heron that will have a 14-foot wingspan and stand nine-feet tall!
